THE ARCADE

A Program Manager group on the same desk as the tools. Snake and Minesweeper are open; the rest are on the bench. No download, no account.

PROGRAM GROUP — THE ARCADE

  • SnakeSNAKE.EXEEat, grow, do not bite yourself. Four bits an apple.
  • MinesweeperMINES.EXENine by nine and ten mines, up to thirty by sixteen and ninety-nine. The first click is never a mine.
  • SolitaireSOL.EXEKlondike, draw one or draw three, unlimited undo, and the cascade when you win.
  • BlocksBLOCKS.EXESeven falling shapes on a fair rotation, a ghost that never lies, and it gets faster.
  • PongPONG.EXEThe one that started all of this. One player against the machine, or two on one keyboard.
  • PaintbrushPAINT.EXESixteen colours, fourteen tools, and a save button that gives you a real PNG.

How it works

  1. Open THE ARCADE from the desk, the taskbar or the Start menu.
  2. Pick a machine from the group window.
  3. Play. A finished game deposits bits, same as a finished job.

Questions, answered honestly

Do the games cost anything, or need an account?
No to both. They are on the open shelf like the tools, and nothing in the arcade sits behind a login.
Which games are here?
Snake, minesweeper, a falling-block game, solitaire and a paint program. Each also has its own page.
Do the games cost anything or need an account?
No. They are on the open shelf like the tools, and nothing in the arcade sits behind a login.
When do they arrive?
They are being built one at a time. The desk always shows the honest state, so a machine that is not ready says so.
